From The President (October 2025)

Dear Fellow Braddock District Council Members,

Thank you for the huge turnout at our Candidates Forum on October 15th.  It was great to see such enthusiastic participation in the democratic process by more than one hundred of our fellow neighbors.  Our panel of speakers included the three candidates for the office of Braddock District Supervisor: Ken Balbuena, Rachna Sizemore Heizer, and Carey Campbell.   Each of them shared their viewpoints on many local issues.  These topics included plans for reviving Lake Accotink, the lack of affordable housing, and the rise of data centers in our region.

The special election for Braddock District Supervisor is scheduled for December 9th.  Early voting is already underway as well as voting by mail.  Here’s a link to Fairfax County’s website for full details:

We have removed our November meeting from the schedule to give folks time to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.  In its place we are adding a Council meeting on Wednesday, December 17th.  Our guest speaker is Master Police Officer Tony Capizzi from the West Springfield District Station.  He will be sharing with us his expertise on crime prevention tips for our area.

Thank you for supporting your local community, and I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Regards,

Todd Murphy

President, BDC
