From The President (December 2025)

Dear Fellow Braddock District Council Members,

On behalf of our council, I would like to welcome our new Braddock District Supervisor, Rachna Sizemore Heizer.  We look forward to working closely with her staff on ways to best serve our community.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Paul Hartwell for his years of service as our coordinator for the Braddock District Council Aging in Place Program.  He has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to come up with a variety of monthly topics, including the popular Braddock Story Tellers series.  We will miss Paul’s expertise and enthusiasm for providing a much-needed resource for our seniors.

Here’s what is scheduled for our upcoming council meetings:

December 17th

Our guest speaker is Master Police Officer Tony Capizzi from the West Springfield District Station.  He will be sharing with us his expertise on crime prevention tips for our area.

January 21st

Guest speaker Eileen Kragie, Founder of Dark Sky Friends, will share her expertise with us about light pollution.  Learn more about how we can safeguard our own health as well as the environment.  Find out how local jurisdictions play a role in establishing policies and ordinances that help limit the effects of too much artificial light.

If you have any topic suggestions or concerns that affect the Braddock District as a whole, we'd love to hear from you.  Thank you for supporting your local community, and I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Regards,

Todd Murphy

President, BDC
