From the President (August 2025)

Dear Fellow Braddock District Council Members,

It is an honor to serve as the new president of our Braddock District Council. I look forward to working with each of you on finding new ways to help our local communities thrive.

I am very fortunate to be inheriting an organization that is in excellent shape thanks to the leadership of Bob Cosgriff. He has put in countless hours for our council and certainly has earned a well-deserved break!

So why did I decide to run for this office, besides a little encouragement from Bob? I think it came down to feeling the need to give back to our community. I reflected on how much my family and I have gained from living in the same place for almost a quarter of a century. It allowed us to put down some incredibly deep roots. Back in 2001 we bought a house in Country Club View near University Mall and had no idea at the time what a great investment it would be. Yes, our house has appreciated greatly since then, however the real value has been in the connections we have made with others.

Speaking of lucky, I am most fortunate to be serving alongside a dedicated and talented group of folks on our board. Charlotte, Marie, Barbara, Nancy and Paul all help make our council such a success.

I hope you can join us for our upcoming Annual Meeting. We meet at Braddock Hall from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17th. Braddock District Supervisor James Walkinshaw is scheduled to provide us with a legislative update on issues that impact our district. Immediately following the update we will conduct our business portion of the meeting, which will include the presentation of our annual budget.

If you have ideas for guest speakers you think would be of interest to our communities, please reach out to me. I look forward to gaining your input, and hope to see you at our meeting in September.

Regards,

Todd Murphy

President, BDC
